Here are 5 lessons I learned from shooting vintage cameras from the 1910s through 1950s. Whether you shoot digital, shot film in the past, or have never picked up a film camera, trying and experimenting with vintage cameras gives you a unique learning experience that's both enjoyable and inspirational. Most of all, shooting (and collecting) vintage cameras is lots of fun, and the results will surprise you. The question isn't "why shoot film", but more like "why not try shooting film". As I explore the evolution of cameras, from the 1890s to the present time, I wanted to take a pause - and make this video to summarize what I gained from the experience of shooting with the seemingly most basic, rudimentary cameras of the first half of the 20th century. What you will realize, is that these early cameras already had all the features necessary for great pictures.
