Every year I choose what I believe is the best radio of the year — not based on hype, specs, or marketing, but on how I actually listen. This video is my personal choice for 2025, the radio I would keep if I were forced to choose only one. This is my choice for 2025 - whenever I say "this year" in the video, I mean 2025, not 2026, although we are a few days into 2026 already. My listening focuses on shortwave (SW), medium wave (MW), and SSB, and this year something changed: I bought fewer radios than before — simply because I already have too many, and I found that most of the DSP-based radios we can buy now are pretty similar. In fact, I’ve started selling some of them. Others will get more use from them than I do. So this video is an honest look at my real-world radio use in 2025: Which radios ended up unused Which ones I used just sometimes Which radios I reached for all the time And finally… if I had to give up all my radios and keep just one — which would it be? 👉 Watch until the end to see my final choice. 📻 Radios featured in this video XHDATA D-368, D-808, D-219, D-608WB Tecsun R-909, R-9012, PL-368 Hammarlund HQ-129-X -Yaesu FRG-7 Sony ICF-F10 Kenwood R-1000 Lijiani RD908 Qodosen DX-286, SR-286 Clooblut RD218 Raddy RF886 Mini Si4732 receiver (also known as AMNVOLT S-4732) RTL-SDR CS-106 Retekess V115 Sangean PR-D4W …and others Some surprised me. Some disappointed me. Some reminded me why less is more. In the end, if I were forced to choose less, there is one that I would choose. 🎧 A personal conclusion I have come to realise that I don’t need dozens of radios. The modern DSP-radios are all quite similar. Most of us only need one really good one that fits our listening style. Perhaps it is time to downscale and choose just one or two radios that suit your needs. 💬 What would YOU choose if you could only keep one radio? Let me know in the comments — I’m genuinely curious. My choice might not be the same as yours, and that's the point. There are so many radios out there, I think we all have our own likes and dislikes. It is all about choosing the radios that work for you. And when you find one you like, enjoy it, that's the best radio for you. 👍 If you enjoy honest radio reviews and real listening experiences, please like, subscribe, and share. 00:00 My favourite radio in 2025 01:24 State-of-the-art older radios 02:29 Radios I don't use anymore 05:03 The radios I acquired this year 06:50 XHDATA D-219 are just great 08:25 Lijiani RD908 09:37 Radios I actually used in 2025 09:55 Tecsun PL-368 11:43 Why I don't use the XHDATA D-808 anymore 12:26 Qodosen DX-286, still one of the best 13:16 Si4732 (AMNVOLT) a big surprise 15:10 My 2025 favourites 15:40 If I had to choose only one #ShortwaveRadio #RadioListening #SWL #DXing #RadioReceiver #ShortwaveListening #SWLDXing #RadioReview #BestRadio #RadioOfTheYear #MediumWave #SSB #RadioHobby #RadioEnthusiast
