Pa. transportation officials prepare ahead of severe winter weather over the weekend

The snow is coming to Pennsylvania, and with it comes the threat of travel delays or even roadway emergencies in whiteout conditions. While the preparation may only come into the spotlight now, officials say planning for weekends like this has been happening for years. Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) Director Randy Padfield says the winter weather forecast, which could bring a foot of snow to south central Pennsylvania, has triggered coordination efforts across the entire commonwealth. “I’m very confident. We’ve seen this before,” Padfield said. “We’re coordinating with the state agencies. Later this afternoon, we’ll have a state agency coordination call. We’re also coordinating with our federal partners.
