EXTREMELY Busy Vintage Payne (mb. EPCO) Hydraulic Elevators at 372 Washington St, Wellesley MA

(2.18.2026) Here we have a bank of two that really should NOT be on the same controller but for some reason are. One of them goes down to parking while the other only goes to the lobby. I experienced a lot of confusion from other people in the building taking the left car and expecting it to go to parking and then having to wait for the other car to arrive. These were extremely difficult to film due to how busy they were. I had to do several takes and this is the best I could do. These seem like late 60s installs to me, however the architectural style of the building suggests mid 70s. They were given a very slight mod some time in the 90s which consisted of nothing more than a simple COP replacement, but they are otherwise very much original. I'm not sure if Payne did the mods themselves after they were bought out by Thyssen, or if this was just some kind of independent mod that coincidentally used the same fixtures Payne was using in the 90s.
