Masaka Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered a recount of votes from all polling stations in the Masaka City Woman MP election, scheduled to begin at 2:30pm. The recount follows an application filed by Justin Namere of the NRM against NUP's Rose Nalubowa and the Electoral Commission (EC). Namere is challenging Nalubowa’s victory, claiming that results from 11 polling stations were not counted when the final results were announced. In the January 15 parliamentary election in Masaka City, Namere polled 20,324 votes, while Nalubowa garnered 25,443 votes. Security has been beefed up at the Masaka City Electoral Commission offices ahead of the recount of votes for the Masaka City Woman MP seat. The sorting of ballot boxes has already begun, following a court order directing a recount of votes from all polling stations to determine the rightful winner. The exercise is being overseen by Masaka Chief Magistrate Abert Asiimwe. A total of 314 polling stations are under scrutiny.
