How to Plant Garlic

Did you know that garlic is planted in the fall and harvested the next summer. In this video we show how we prepare our soil to plant garlic in late October, Zone 6. First, we broad fork the perma bed to break up the soil, next we amend the soil with compost and feather meal. We then use our Grillo walk behind tractor and rotary harrow attachment to mix the soil and amendments. Next we install the plastic mulch to control moisture and suppress weed growth. Then we use our Hoss dibbler (this tool works excellent) and we pop the garlic bulbs then plant the garlic cloves. Our garlic spacing is 4” x 6” in this video.
