We filmed a walk on the Monday 23rd March 2020, the day that Boris Johnson announced lockdown would begin on 24th March. As part of the walk, we visited Padstow. The guidelines at this time permitted exercise and travel as long as social distancing was practiced. Padstow was near enough deserted. Despite the sunny weather, after months of heavy rain and a long winter, the town was basically empty. No children eating ice creams, no one eating pasties, or admiring the harbour, taking photos, enjoying a drink on the harbour, no smell of vinegar on fish and chips.
