Preventing another 'Zymere' tragedy: Last week, the mother of the late Zymere Perkins gave graphic details on the extent of her son's chronic abuse at the hands of her ex-boyfriend. Zymere was just six years old when he received a final, fatal beating in his Harlem apartment in 2016. Her ex-boyfriend is accused of “water torturing” the little boy, starving the child, and beating him with a broomstick. The city overhauled the Administration for Children’s Services after Zymere’s death.
