Home Brew: Making Watermelon Cider at 6.6% ABV -    • Home Brew: Making Watermelon Cider at...   . Hey folks, another cider film for you and this one was 144 days in the making from start to finish. In this film I make a watermelon cider using apples from my garden and half of a large supermarket watermelon. The cider must is created using a TecTake Steam Press, to which I add lactose sugar, dextrose monohydrate brewing sugar, pectolase, yeast and yeast nutrient. The cider is fermented in a demijohn, I top it up slightly with apple juice after it blows through the air lock during fermentation (no big deal really). The film includes the ingredients, recipe, fermentation, topping-up, bottling, conditioning, opening and tasting. Upon tasting this cider had a nce medium flavour, and was reminiscent of Woodpecker Cider, albeit with a scrumpy edge. Unfortunately the flavour of the watermelon didn't come through, but nonethless, this is still a nice flavoured cider. Hope you enjoy the film folks, cheers!
