In today’s episode, Carolyn looks at Angelo’s chilling monologue from the problem play “Measure for Measure” and delves into this hypocritical character while highlighting how relevant Shakespeare remains today. The monologue is performed by George Priestly. You can read along with the monologue here: http://playbyplaytheatre.org/angelo __ George Priestley studied music at Royal Holloway, University of London, graduating in 2016 and going on to study a PGCE in Primary Education at Kingston University, London. His performance repertoire spans opera, including “L’Elisir d’Amore” and “Eugene Onegin”, operetta, musical theatre and, of course, Shakespeare! He has written and performed original music for “Richard III” & “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and has directed 30 11-year-olds in a production of “Macbeth” (probably the most impressive achievement in this bio). Furthermore, he met Play-by-Play’s Carolyn Silverberg in a production of “Romeo & Juliet”, playing Paris opposite her Lady Capulet. “And the rest, they say, is history.” -Shakespeare, probably. Carolyn Silverberg is a self-proclaimed Bardolator who earned her MA in Shakespeare from Royal Holloway University of London and her BA in English & Theatre Studies from St. Norbert College. With Play-by-Play, she directed Green Bay’s inaugural Shakespeare in the Park production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (while also playing Helena), as well as this past summer’s safe “The Taming of the Shrew”. Her love of and passion for Shakespeare began in 5th grade when she played Lady Macbeth (yes, really), a love and passion she continues to share and instill with the greater Green Bay community. __ To learn more about Play-by-Play Theatre, visit: http://playbyplaytheatre.org/
