While younger trees may require lesser intervention, larger trees may need multiple pruning sessions that can span a number of years to address an issue. This particular young cedar elm is dealing with a codominant stem. Cory discusses what this means for this young elm and how he plans to correct it. ➡️ A codominant stem is a situation where a tree has two equal-sized trunks that meet at a midpoint. This midpoint area is actually a weak spot for the tree. As the tree continues to grow and adds additional weight to this area, the potential for the tree to split increases.
