Inspired by video shared by Clint Hurd. Here’s the link to his video • Table saw upgrades: DIY Infeed Table . All DEWALT job site saw owners, and in fact most any brand job site owner wishes they had more distance on the table in front of the blade. There are many videos for infeed extensions but I didn’t want it to obstruct reaching the on/off switch and I wanted it to take little space because I don’t have much in my small garage to store a big extension. There are options but some require drilling into the saw body or fence making it a more permanent setup which I couldn’t have with limited space. Other options require a fence that has a wide enough gap to mount or clip a metal angle or clamp to the frame or even to the fence itself but for most job site saws like the DEWALT models, the fence measurement scale is integrated into the table top and the fence mechanisms are tightly mounted to the table’s frame without any gap clearance at all. Then the genius of Clint Hurd’s design which used a simple toggle clamp! The problem was how to clamp onto the DEWALT without drilling. This is where the clamping block comes in. It is used underneath the table top between the cast table (underneath the measurement scale) and the rack and pinion fence and allows the toggle clamp to secure the infeed extension. There is a shim needed to offset the crosshair gauge if you mount the infeed and the fence is closer than about 8 inches from the blade. But as shown in the video you can move the fence right up to the blade while the extension is installed. If you have questions drop a comment and I’ll get right back to you.
