60s Hot Rod 32 Ford Roadster Full Build | DIY Roadster Kit Car

In preparation for the 50th anniversary of the Street Rod Nationals in 2019, we decided to revamp our Speedway Signature Series All-Steel 1932 Roadster Kit Car https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedw... with some additions based on 1960s hot rods such as the McMullen Roadster, before taking it on a road trip from Lincoln to the event in Louisville. This Signature Series Roadster was originally built by Street Rodder Magazine back in 2007 https://www.hotrod.com/how-to/0801sr-... First, we installed the finned aluminum Speedway drums on an existing set of Bendix-style backing plates. Since our Roadster has no fenders, we wanted to be sure that everything about the brake drums looked cool, and these finned brake drums definitely fit the bill. Next, we replaced an old 350 with a leftover 383 that we juiced up at our engine shop. To get the engine ready, we honed the cylinders, pin fit the new pistons and resized the rods, balanced the old crank to the new rods and pistons, and added a blower. After our improvements, the 383 made 520 horsepower at 6000 RPM, and 515 foot-pounds of torque at 4500 RPM. All that was left to do was install the 383 in the car and add a few more details to make our resto rod look like a classic 60s hot rod. Finally, the 32 Roadster was ready for a 700-mile road trip.
