Lose Hill Derbyshire Peak District - A circular walk from Hope Railway Station

Join us on Lose Hill, Win Hills nemesis. In this video we take on a classic Peak District walk — from Hope railway station up Lose Hill, along the Great Ridge, down to Castleton, and back to Hope. The weather didn’t make it easy. The climb up Lose Hill was extremely muddy, with driving rain, thick fog and strong wind on the tops. When we reached the summit, we sheltered from the worst of it using our Terra Nova Bothy 4, grabbed some lunch, and waited for a brief break in the weather. From there we continued along the Great Ridge to Hollins Cross, still battling wind and rain, before descending into Castleton. We stopped for some well-earned food at the Cheshire Cheese Inn, then followed the route back to Hope railway station to complete the loop. This walk shows the Peak District exactly as it often is — wet, wild, challenging, but still brilliant. If you’re planning this route, expect mud, exposure on the ridge, and big views when the cloud lifts.
