There have been some amazing things seen there over the years, and we have had some great experiences as well. You will see various definitions of why it is called Lake Panic, but it was actually named in the 1970’s when a torrential downfall threatened to burst through the dam wall. So panic surrounded everyone at Skukuza. Lake Panic is without a doubt the best and most visited bird hide in the Kruger National Park. We have had some special memories and sightings at Lake Panic over the years… Lake Panic is less than 10 kilometers from Skukuza, and it is very popular amongst all of those who know about the hide and who have traveled there. It’s popularity does not deter the feeling you are alone with nature at this bird hide. Looking through your binoculars at Hippo’s, or taking photographs of flowers, gives you the feel that you are the only person here at times, despite is always seeming to be a busy hide. Then again, it is the best bird hide in the Kruger National Park, and it even as a resident Leopard that drinks here quite often, should you be so lucky as to see it. We hope you enjoy the video!
