Trackmaster Whiff 2009 review and first run

Hey Folks here we have today 2009 Trackmaster Whiff from Mattel, I bought this engine on ebay and it was new without packaging. I have wanted one of these for a while just being very curious about it and how it runs, Having seen one that my dad owns I decided to buy my own, it is a small green tank engine that handles rubbish collections in the show and it has a very distinct whistle sound. His first appearance in the show was with Emily ordered to assist him collecting a rubbish train, and Emily trying to get away from him but he constantly finds her. He was later given his own rubbish dump in Misty island rescue. This engine runs on a single AA battery and the drive unit is the type found in Thomas, Percy, Stepney and similar. It runs silently as this type of drive unit usually does but the light weight of this locomotive is its downfall. It is lacking weight in the chassis and the bodyshell itself and is therefore a very weak performer struggling to get any traction. Its disappointing that they could not shove a couple of metal weights in the shell or the chassis this would cost them very little per unit and make a huge difference. It looks great and its detailing can not be faulted as it presents excellently in every way, the brass colored detailing stands out well against the dark green paint and the dirty colored stickers add to the theme of this being a rubbish collecting engine, the face and particularly the glasses look like they do in the tv show as well. Overall I give this engine a 7/10 its lightweight performance lets it down but its looks are great. Thanks for watching!!
