Usually, when there are elevators at a subway station with two platforms next to each other, they either directly connect the platform level to street level, or only lead to an intermediate level, with a separate elevator to street level. At Schützenstraße station, a compromise between both options is implemented in that one of the two elevators goes all the way to street level, while the other one only serves an intermediate level, requiring handicapped people to change elevators. Also, both elevators have cabs with entrances on two sides, although the shorter "shuttle" elevator would not have strictly required them, since both entrances are used at the upper landing. The video also includes a few shots of Märkische Straße subway station, also in Dortmund and on the same subway line. While there are no elevators, the escalator system is quite noteworthy. At one end of the platforms, there are short bi-directional escalators to an intermediate level. The escalators at the other end lead directly to street level and are some of the longest in Dortmund, because the station was built underneath a car tunnel. A very unique feature is that there are two escalators going up, but with different speeds: normal, which takes just over a minute, and fast, which reduces travel time to about 40 seconds. However, for one of the platforms, that feature is now gone as the escalators have been replaced, and the ones filmed are due to being replaced soon, too.
