"Diffusion", 1995 Antinos Records. Confusion formed in 1993. A duo formed by frontman and keyboardist CMJK immediately after the split of his previous group Cutemen, and bassist Yuji (祐司) after he left M-Age, the duo released its first single in early 1994, "Confused E.P.", which would give Confusion a strong underground buzz that immediately caught the attention of a few major labels. Soon after the release of "Confused E.P.", the duo became a major act and signed to Antinos Records, a sublabel of Sony Music, and Confusion went on to release several singles throughout 1994 and 1995, and later released their first full length album, "Diffusion", in July of 1995. All the singles and the album would have mediocre sales in the mainstream market, however, and Confusion would leave Antinos Records by the end of 1995 and instead became an indies act again. In May of 1996, the duo released their seventh single "Fire", and immediately after its release, became a major act again and signed to Artaius Products, another sublabel of Sony Music. In July of 1996, Confusion released their second full length album "Runner's High", which would ultimately have even worse sales than their previous mainstream efforts, and the duo ended up disbanding in the fall of 1996. After its split, Yuji would retire from the music scene in general, while CMJK would go on to become a prolific and sought after composer, with some of the more notable names being Ayumi Hamasaki (浜崎あゆみ), Beni and Juice=Juice. In 2000, Cutemen would temporarily reunite, with CMJK rejoining, and the duo toured a bit throughout the next few years and released a few more singles before splitting again 2002. In 2016, Cutemen would reunite again, with CMJK once again returning as a member, and he remains active as both a composer and a member of Cutemen today.
