Ever hear of the ABC islands? They're a chain of 3 Caribbean islands, just off the coast of Venezuela. They are Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, hence the ABC. And in one way or another, they're all a part of the Netherlands. Today we'll shed some light on the island of Bonaire. Please consider supporting this channel via Patreon, by accessing the link bellow. Any contribution is greatly appreciated. Thank you! / 7facts Social Media: / sebastian2go / official7facts ------------------------------------------------ More information about the video content bellow: 1. Bonaire is an island in the Leeward Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. As of 1 January 2019, the island's population totaled 20,104 permanent residents. 2. In the 17th century the islands were conquered by the Dutch West India Company and colonized by Dutch settlers. 3. Its capital is Kralendijk. 4. Unlike much of the Caribbean region, the ABC islands lie outside Hurricane Alley. The islands have an arid climate that attracts visitors seeking warm, sunny weather all year round. Bonaire is a popular snorkeling and scuba diving destination because of its multiple shore diving sites and easy access to the island's fringing reefs. 5. Bonaire was part of the Netherlands Antilles until the country's dissolution in 2010, when the island became a special municipality (officially, a "Caribbean public body") within the country of the Netherlands. It is one of three special municipalities in the Caribbean; the others are Sint Eustatius and Saba. 6. Off the coast of Kralendijk lies the uninhabited island of Klein Bonaire, noted for diving and snorkeling activities. This small island can be reached by water taxi, or, for divers, by practically all of the local dive operators. 7. The slave houses at Witte Pan and Oranje Pan are small houses on Bonaire where the slaves who worked in the salt pans spent the night.
