Join my friend Roisin and I for my wild birthday as we travel into the depths of Animal Kingdom on the Wild Africa Trek! Follow me on Twitter & Instagram: @adamhattan It's my BIRTHDAY! Today I turn the ripe old age of 24 and my friend Roisin is along for the ride! Disney Cultural Representative Program Blog: www.adamdoesdisney.com We start our day in an Uber to Animal Kingdom Lodge where-by we drop off our bags at bell services before we check-in later in the day. We then take the Disney Transport bus over to Animal Kingdom when I get excited to hear the safety announcement. Once at Animal Kingdom I go on the hunt for a birthday button to let everyone know I'm celebrating my birthday and then we make our way to Africa to check-in for the Wild Africa Trek. We get to see the band in Africa for a hot second before we then get suited up for our trek. On the Wild Africa Trek we get to see Hippos up close being fed by the cast members. We have harnesses in which we use to venture on some rope bridges over the Hippo and Crocodile enclosure. We make our way deeper into the jungle until we find ourselves in the savanna where we board a truck and get to explore Giraffes, Springbok, Kudu and more! Our driver takes us up to the Boma which is where we have our lunch. My personal favourite was the yellow chicken curry and they can accommodate all kinds of dietary needs. They ask when you check-in if you have any requests for you meal. I simple said I don't like shellfish. After lunch, we make our way around the rest of the Safari before leaving our guides for the day. It was an amazing experience and my review is... do it! It was worth every penny and more! Later in the day Roisin and I check into our Disney Vacation Club (DVC) deluxe studio room with a savanna view. The room was gorgeous! We pop down to the pool whilst it was raining to enjoy a Pina Colava and play Disney Trivia. We then head upstairs to get ready for Dinner. For Dinner we're joined by Hope and Spencer for a delightful meal at Jiko: The Cooking Place. We all had the amazing Taste of Africa bread service to start, I had Lamb Tegine (sp?) for my main and then 'The Kilimanjaro' dessert. Jiko is now what I would consider the best Walt Disney World restaurant. The atmosphere, food and service where second to none and I can't wait to return! After dinner we simply went back to the room to enjoy Malibu and Pineapple juice and I got to celebrate with a special birthday cake the Roisin had organised but was gifted to us by the front desk team at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Thank you to them! We know that the cake we had was not cheap and couldn't believe they did that for us!
