SAMANVAY. Salam/Pranam to Ustads Kumudini Lakhia, Atul Desai and Sandhya Desai

Deepest Salaam/Pranaams to Gurus Kumudini Lakhia, Sandhya & Atul Desai for this dance and music. This video is from 9 February 2018 when I had the great opportunity to perform Guru Kumudini Lakhia's (Kumiben's) choreography thanks to my Kathak Guru in Toronto, Sandhya Desai (Kumiben's disciple) who gave me this music, Samanvay, in 2018 created by her late husband Atul Desai. Sandhya Apa encouraged me to perform to Samanvay and showed me some suggested choreography ideas, but I was so enraptured by Sanjukta Sinha's performance of Kumudini Lakhia's choreography on YouTube, that I tried to embody that instead. Since 2021 I've also been training under Sanjukta Sinha via periodic online Masterclasses and workshops. Kumudini Lakhia's work remains fresh, groundbreaking and innovative and her students continue to train countless students worldwide. Deepest salaams/pranaams Kumiben. Thank you for all you have done for Kathak and for Kathak dancers worldwide. Thank you for the joy that this dance piece brought me and continues to bring me whenever I practice it. As they say, "a thing of beauty is a joy forever."
