This is just an introductory video (As of now I am assuming that we already have experience of using APRSdroid from our smartphone through the cellphone data network). In the next video shall demonstrate texting from Baofeng to Baofeng (In this video only tracking is demonstrated as I do not have an extra smartphone). For users in India copy the Open Street Map of India which is at: https://www.qsl.net/vu2msy/homebrew/A... Download the map aprsdroid.map (this is actually india.map downloaded from OSM. To make it workable in conjunction with the APRSdroid App offline, the map is to be renamed as aprsdroid.map as then only APRSdroid recognizes the map). From Preference Settings, the path to this map should be defined in APRSdroid. The aprsdroid.map should be copied to the root directory of your smartphone, i.e. the SD card root /sdcard/aprsdroid.map (not within any folder). Download the APRSDroid APK file from https://aprsdroid.org/download/builds... Install it in your Android smartphone device (But don't forget to disable the 'Auto Update' for this App to 'OFF', because if Auto Update for this App is kept 'ON', the offline map version would not be retained. This can be done going to the Google Play store and opening the APRSdroid, from the top right Uncheck the 'Auto Update' option to disable 'Auto update'). Now your Baofeng handy is fully APRS ready with the Baofeng tech cable which can be obtained from baofengtech and you can reliably plot on the OSM map from one Baofeng to another Baofeng and also do Text Messaging with your ham buddies (He/She should also set up his/her Baofeng and Smartphone in a similar way).
