After Friwen Island, I took a boat for 50 minutes and came to Pesona Papua Homestay on southwestern tip of Gam Island! The homestay had an overwater bungalow with amazing view! The backside of the homestay is a mangrove forest and the front is the vast ocean stretching out! Staying in such an overwater bungalow, getting up with songs of birds by seeing the sunrise, jumping in the water whenever I want is something that I dreamed of! I spent here 3 nights during Christmas time, 2024 and had an amazing time by exploring the house reef here the whole day, seeing breathtaking sunrise and sunset and joining local Christmas celebration! I also experienced the big storm on Christmas eve. As the woman come to serve meals was living in the village and there was no other guest so I was totally alone in an overwater bungalow which was shaking like an earthquake by the storm. I thought that the bungalow will be blown away and it was so scary! What a Christmas eve! But it’s also a good memory if I think back now, lol! The great thing of this house reef is, the drop-off is just close so you can easily go there where has lots of fish and corals. It was great for a solo traveler like me who didn't have anyone to share the boat. So, I didn’t need to go on a boat dive each time but just could go to the drop-off whenever I want. If you are thinking to go to Raja Ampat and wondering which island to go, this place is an idealistic place for nature lovers who want to go away from a touristic place but just want to be embraced by nature. But there was no one who could speak English when I went there. So, if you cannot speak Indonesian, it might be a bit difficult to communicate with the woman who come to cook meals and the boat man who sometimes come.
