We didn’t expect this on Route 66… After one final trip to Los Algodones, Mexico for glasses — and a brief moment of additional screening at the U.S. border — we headed into Arizona for what we thought would be a simple drive. It turned into one of the wildest stretches of Historic Route 66 we’ve experienced. We drove the original mountain section from Kingman to Oatman, Arizona — a winding, scenic road full of steep grades, tight curves, and incredible desert views. Then we walked the streets of Oatman, fed the famous wild burros roaming town, and stepped back into a true Old West atmosphere. From there, we made our way to Lake Havasu City to see and walk across the historic London Bridge before continuing our Arizona RV adventure.
