In this video, I share my deeply personal journey of growing up with Norwegian heritage and how it shaped my childhood, identity, and understanding of culture. Although my biological mom was half Norwegian, and my grandparents were 100% Norwegian, our connection to Norway was mostly through ancestry rather than direct ties. Like many Americans, my family was fascinated by our European roots, but my experience went far beyond just celebrating heritage. As a child, I was sent to Norway, not by choice, and it became a pivotal part of my life. In this video, I talk about: How my childhood in Norway became a sanctuary for me amidst personal struggles at home. My experience in Norwegian schools, excelling academically, and immersing myself in the language and culture.
