This video starts near Page in northern Arizona on the way to Monument Valley through nothing but vast beautiful desert landscape, with amazing vistas of sacred Navajo Mountain, mesas, cliffs and buttes. After passing through Kayenta we stop by AGATHLA peak, a.k.a El Capitan. The English designation Agathla is derived from the Navajo name aghaałą́ meaning 'much wool', apparently for the fur of antelope and deer accumulating on the rock. The mountain is considered sacred by the Navajo. Agathla peak is eroded volcanic plug 1436 ft or 438m of height above flat surrounding terrain. MONUMENT VALLEY Monument Valley is cluster of sandstone buttes, with the largest reaching 1000 ft (300m) above the flat plateau on Arizona - Utah state line. Many western movies includes scenes from Monument Valley and the valley is considered sacred by the Navajo Nation. Most of the area in this video is in Navajo County , where the majority is native American territory. Navajo County is huge! With 9960 square miles (25800 square Km) and only 107000 inhabitants it has very low population density of only 11 people per 1 sq mile (4 per km sq). Along with neighboring Apache and Coconino counties most of it's area encompasses Indian reservation.
