Day 1 on Mt Kenya: Nairobi - Sirimon Gate- Old Moses Camp

We left Nairobi on 30th March for Nanyuki town. Had a stopover at Magunas Sagana, the Equator Point and Cedar Mall in Nanyuki. We then proceeded to the Sirimon Park Gate where we had lunch and met the 12-man crew that would see us through 4 days on Mt Kenya. From the gate, we trekked up through magnificent montane forest, bamboo and giant heather zone before reaching the high altitude moorland and our first hut (Old Moses camp 3,300m) for dinner and overnight camping. This was a gentle 9Km trek that took us 3 - 4 hrs. We gained an elevation of 680m.
