In Mandi's aviary: Gelert has a spa and groom

Mandi gives old guy Gelert a special spa and grooming session. He gets dried off with a towel, brushed with a toothbrush then has a massage; he is in lengthy bliss. He does attempt to correct any deficiencies in Mandi's grooming skills and licks bits she hasn't gone quite right, or for long enough, but in general he lies there in the sun, lapping it all up. Gelert is 16 or 17 his year (I think).. He was born with metabolic bone disease from maternal malnutrition; he didn't get enough calcium during gestation, so his bones are soft and weak and break easily; he has the bones of an old bat. He now has arthritis and one leg no longer works enough and is mostly tucked up against his abdomen, which means food and poo sometimes gets lodged in the tucks and he requires bathing to de-crud him of stowed away solids every now and then. He doesn't really enjoy being bathed but he does love to be dried off, brushed and massaged. Baby Jet makes an appearance just to show off his awesome yawn. Thanks Mandi for the footage.
