Advanced Open Water Certification in the Depths of the Pacific 🌊 In this episode of Entre Paisajes, we dive into the waters of Valparaíso with a clear goal: to obtain the PADI Advanced Open Water certification. PADI, which stands for Professional Association of Diving Instructors, is an organization that offers diving courses and certification internationally. It is the largest and most recognized diving organization in the world. So, given Buffy's desire to dive anywhere in the world, we decided to embark on this adventure so she can achieve it. Join us for this intense experience, full of challenges, theory, and lots of underwater adventure. 🚤 Preparations and First Dives Our day begins at Valpo Sub, at Muelle Barón, where we receive our induction and get equipped with everything we need: a compass, a dive computer, and a buoy for the safety stop. Then, we set sail for the first dive site, where we practice underwater navigation and buoyancy control. 🌊 Challenges in the Deep As we descend, the rules of physics change, and we face deep diving, where pressure and nitrogen absorption play a crucial role. We learn about the dangers of decompression and the importance of using a dive computer to monitor our safety. 🌙 Night Diving: Exploring Absolute Darkness One of the most striking moments of the certification is the night dive. With only the light from our flashlights, we enter the total darkness of the ocean, observing marine life from a completely different perspective. Staying close to our buddy is essential, as any mistake can mean getting lost in the immensity of the sea. 🚢 The Caupolicán Shipwreck: The Last Deep-Water Test To complete the certification, we dive to almost 30 meters deep, exploring the Caupolicán shipwreck, a sunken vessel that has become an underwater ecosystem. As a final challenge, we took on an extreme test: navigating without a mask, relying only on touch and the guideline to orient ourselves. ✅ Mission Accomplished: Certification in Hand After five demanding dives and one final safety stop, we successfully completed the Advanced Open Water certification, opening the door to new adventures anywhere in the world. 🎥 Don't miss this incredible experience at the bottom of the sea!
