Harbor Freight Cen Tech multimeter AA and 9 volt battery load test

Do this at your own risk. The battery check function for AA and 9 volt cells is a little obscure but is actually available in this inexpensive Harbor Freight Cen-Tech meter. The model I have is item number 98025. The meter puts the battery under a 375 mw load to check the current draw. For a AA battery, the current draw for a good battery is 4 mA and 25mA for a 9 volt battery. The current information is marked on the meter. The battery load test is a more useful test of the battery than just by checking the open voltage. The manual cautions users not to use this for other types of battery such as a car battery as the large current draw could burn up the meter and become a safety hazard.
