Full title reads: "Churchill's Tory Message". Liverpool, Merseyside. GV Conservative leader Winston Churchill arrives at Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool. LV Crowds cheering. SV Churchill enters hotel. SV Churchill walking towards, platform. GV Churchill walking towards platform crowd cheering. SV Churchill on platform about to speak. Churchill speaking:- "We need four of five years of calm resolute policy and administration to enable us after we have been through to regather our inherit strength and allow our native qualities to shine forth and earn their reward. This will be no vindictive triumph for Tories over socialists no dull exclusion of Liberal and independent forces but rather a period of healing and revival. If this purpose is to be achieved there is to be no subservience in class of privilege at home and no relaxation from our known and agreed policy of acting with the other free democracies with strength patience and firmness. So far as the Conservative party is concerned our whole effort will be directed towards national recovery both at home and abroad and we recognise that cannot be done without a very considerable measure of good will from the great majority of the people. We have but to cast away an effort of will the enfeebling tendency and fallacies of socialism. Free ourselves from socialist rule than to stand erect once more to take place among the great powers of the world. Never shall we lose our faith and courage. Never shall we fail in exertion and resolve." (Rota Lav.) (Orig. D.) (Orig. Track C.) FILM ID:1473.21 A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
