Oliver Edwards @LearnFlyFishing ties his own spider pattern. That imitates the Yellow May. He was told that fish don't like this fly, it's unpalatable. He watched the fish taking these again and again on his stretch of the river and knew that this is not true. He has devised a number of flies for this, some we cover in the videos on this channel, others - I refer you to his book A Flytyer's Masterclass. Depending on whether you are UK, Irish or US - You are probably familiar with this fly, anglers call it The Yellow May, the Yellow May Dun, The Yellow Hawk, The Little Evening Sulphur Dun, Evening Sulphur Dun. Fish love it, it comes off from mid May to the end of September in the UK, if they are hatching, have one of these in your fly box!
