Since Apostate Cigars debuted the company’s first three blends in 2o21, the company’s plan was to release a total of eight different regular-production blends, each with a singular vitola to start. Starting today, the final two of those eight cigars will begin shipping to retailers. Apostate Cigars was founded in 2020 by Oveson and Kendrick Woolstenhulme, and the company gets its name from a term in Mormon culture that refers to the fact that choosing to smoke cigars is an open act of rebellion against the church’s teachings, as tobacco is forbidden in Mormon culture. Woolstenhulme and Oveson both grew up in Utah as active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, who are also known as Mormons. The company’s cigars are named after parts of the religion. The first cigar is Moroni’s Trumpet, a 6 1/4 x 56 torpedo composed of a Mexican San Andrés oscuro wrapper over a Dominican olor binder and a filler blend that includes Connecticut broadleaf and tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic. The name refers to “the spreading of the gospel throughout the world and the long-anticipated Second Coming of the Savior, which will be announced by trumpet-blowing angels,” according to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints website. The other new release is The Endowment, a 6 x 52 toro made up of an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed Desflorado wrapper, a Connecticut broadleaf binder and filler tobaccos grown in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Pennsylvania. According to Wikipedia, an endowment in the Mormon religion is “a two-part ordinance (ceremony) designed for participants to become kings, queens, priests, and priestesses in the afterlife.” In a phone conversation, Brandon Oveson, co-founder of Apostate Cigars, told halfwheel that both new cigars have an MSRP of $20, are packaged in 12-count bundles and—as is the case with the rest of the company’s releases—are being rolled at Tabacalera Palma in the Dominican Republic. With the addition of the last two releases, Apostate Cigars now offers a total of eight blends: #affortablesticks #apostatecigars #cigarlifestyle #cigarsociety #cigarlovers #cigarlife #cigaraficionados #cigarexperience #racketeerlounge #cigarmagazine #cigarfans #cigartime #cigarpairing #cigarnation #cigarsdaily #cigarsocialclub #cigarsnob #cigarworld #mycigar #smoothcigars #cigars #cigarlover #cynncoburn #cigarhoops #cigarexperts #ilovecigars #cigarsforlife #cigarsandrootbeer #cigarreview #cigarvixen #cigaruniversity #cigarplanet #cigarsalways #todayscigar
