Hunting Rabbits on a small farm tonight in the southern highlands of NSW. I arrived late afternoon to find the property literally swarming with them, 10 steps from the vehicle and I had already counted 40, I was in for a very busy night. Rabbits are not native to Australia and are considered an invasive pest. When left unmanaged rabbits have the ability to breed up in huge numbers very quickly. They live underground in burrows which pose hazards for livestock, people and pets, resulting in large amounts of erosion For safety reasons I'll be running my suppressed air rifle as there are several horses on this property and it is quite close to a main road. Shooting setup: FX Impact MK3 chambered in 22 calibre, shooting JSB Jumbo Exact 18.13gr pellets at 890fps. Topped off with the brand new HikMicro Stellar SQ50L 3.0 thermal scope. On handheld scanner duties is the latest HikMicro Habrok HX60 1280 resolution thermal binoculars, featuring a 1000m laser rangefinder, built in infrared illuminator, night-vision and also 4K day optics. The air rifle and new thermal scope proved to be a deadly combo on the bunnies. Accounting for about 90 rabbits hitting the deck over a 4 hour period, followed by the arduous task of collecting all the carcasses. I'll take some home for dog food and a few of young ones for the pot. The remainder will be disposed of. Please keep in mind that this is a pest control contract. I plan to do a follow up visit in a couple of weeks as when numbers are high like this, it usually takes 2 or 3 visits to disrupt the breeding cycle. Love to hear your thoughts on the new gear I'm running. Let me know in the comments Thanks for watching Don't forget to say G'day
