Romania: Two clips showing the passenger train service operated by Softrans between Craiova and Motru via Filiasi. As of summer 2015 Softrans operate two return trains between these two towns. The trains are normally formed of a single passenger coach and hauled by electric locomotrie number 462-009. The regular passenger service to Motru provided by the Romanian national railway company (CFR) was withdrawn a few years previously and the Softrans service is provided on an 'open access' basis. Both clips were recorded on 6th July 2015. Clip 1 was taken on boardthe 1535 Craiova - Motru leaving Halta Isalnita, just outside Craiova. The county capital Târgu Jiu is located about 35 km northeast. The city administers eight villages: Dealu Pomilor, Horăști, Însurăței, Leurda, Lupoița, Ploștina, Roșiuța and Râpa. Motru was created by an administrative decision in 1966 on the territory of the former Ploștina commune, which, together with seven other villages, became part of the new city. The reason behind the decision to create a city was the development of several coal deposits. The region is at least since the time of the Roman Empire, inhabited, in the district Leurda in 1964 found some silver coins from the time of Emperor Septimius Severus. The last four were a separate commune called Cernele until 1996, when they were merged into the city Public transportation in Craiova started in September 1948 with only 2 buses, received from Bucharest. The buses connected the Craiova railway station with the Nicolae Romanescu Park. The Tram was first introduced in 1987, on an 18.4 km (2.49 mile) double-track line, as a result of the state's intention of keeping energy consumption low. The public transport in Craiova today consists of 3 trolley tram lines and 17 bus lines. It is operated by the Regia Autonomă de Transport Craiova (RAT Craiova), a corporation run by City Hall. One ticket is around €0.5. There are 342 busses and 49 trams serving the city today. Craiova is also a major railway centre and is connected to all other major Romanian cities, as well as local destinations, through the national Căile Ferate Române network.
