Vintage 1974 Hoover Ranger U4002 Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Seeing as I've done a video on the last of the Rangers I thought I'd better do a video of the first! By the time 1974 rolled around the original Hoover Senior that launched in 1959 was looking a little long in the tooth. The current model was 6525C and compared to the Electrolux 500 Twin Clean, it looked like something that had come from the Ark! Rather than create a completely brand new vacuum cleaner, Hoover did what they usually did and made a cosmetic change to the Senior and created the very first Ranger. I have a feeling in my water that this machine and the successor U4014 was actually officially entitled the "Senior-Ranger", with 1980's U4186 being the first to just be called "The Ranger". If you know for sure please leave us a comment as it's a mystery to me! U4002 was given a re-styled hood that essentially hid the original chassis of the Senior. Whilst it looks more modern, and certainly more 70s, it was just an evolution rather than a revolution. They are superb vacuum cleaners though and definitely one of the last 'proper' Hoovers. Enjoy :)
