Fashion loves to call it “new”… until you dig up the evidence. In this episode, I’m pulling vintage b-roll and archival gems to spotlight the Black fashion designers and style makers who set the blueprint long before the industry decided to celebrate it. We’re talking church elegance, everyday glamour, and the names history tried to misplace. From 1940s–60s church elegance to everyday glamour that turned sidewalks into runways, Black women have always been the standard—yet our style legacy is often missing from “official” fashion history. In this video, I’m using vintage footage and archival visuals to show how our looks weren’t just outfits… they were culture, dignity, resistance, and innovation. And the most important part? How this legacy paved the way for the Black designers dominating today. Resources https://nmaahc.si.edu/ https://nmaahc.si.edu/explore/stories...
