Ubud, Bali. Monday, 2 March 2026. Even though it rained earlier, this afternoon in Ubud, Bali has cleared up beautifully. As soon as the skies brightened, tourists poured back onto the streets of Ubud Town to continue their day. We started our walk along Monkey Forest Street. It was fairly busy with traffic, though not completely gridlocked. Plenty of visitors were strolling along the footpaths, browsing clothes and souvenirs from local vendors, while others were settling into restaurants for a late lunch. Before long, we reached Ubud Crossroads — easily the busiest and most hectic point in Ubud Town. People were crossing in every direction: towards Ubud Town Square, across to Ubud Palace, and back again. Coincidentally, a flock of pigeons had gathered here, adding to the lively atmosphere. With the help of a local police officer directing traffic, we crossed eastward and arrived at Ubud Town Square. The square was buzzing — tourists sitting and relaxing, while tour guides offered tickets to traditional dance performances scheduled for the evening. We continued on to the Ubud Art Market Sidewalk, where crowds of visitors wandered past stalls filled with handmade crafts and souvenirs. From there, we turned right into Karna Street — a narrow lane lined entirely with souvenir kiosks. It’s a popular stop for tourists hunting for gifts and keepsakes. Next, we reached Dewisita Street and headed east. This street is packed with restaurants and cafés that many visitors rely on to satisfy their hunger after a long day of exploring. We then turned right onto Hanoman Street. Due to Ubud’s mostly one-way road system, this street acts as one of the main vehicle routes looping back towards Monkey Forest Street. Another right turn brought us into Goutama Selatan Street, the southern section of Goutama Street. This area is especially popular for lunch and dinner. As evening approaches, the warm yellow lights from the cafés and restaurants create a cosy, romantic atmosphere along both Goutama Selatan and Goutama Street. It’s a favourite spot for couples to stroll, dine, and take photos. The regulation banning cars and motorbikes after 6pm makes this stretch one of the most pedestrian-friendly streets in Ubud. We continued walking along Goutama Street all the way to its northern end, where we reached Ubud Main Street. Turning left, we followed it back towards Ubud Town Square — a common meeting point where tourists wait for pickups or simply sit back and soak up the town’s atmosphere. Thanks for walking with us.
