This video is the thirty-third episode in an ongoing series titled, "Things to Do Inside When There Is a Pandemic Outside", created by Mark Burger, Founder and Executive Director of the East Denver Origami Society, with the intention of helping members have a little refuge of calm and beauty amidst a chaotic and uncertain time. If you find you need a little break from gardening in this unseasonably hot weather, this June 2021’s East Denver Origami Society Meeting Replacement Mailing will keep you entertained while cooling off indoors. Inside the envelope you will find several sheets of heavier-weight washi paper. What could be a more appropriate material from which to fold traditional Origami Sumo Wrestlers? Once folded, all that is left to do is to find a shoe box lid from around your house on which to place the enclosed Lilliputian wrestling ring, or Dohyō, and to position the wrestlers at one of the two opposing starting lines. By tapping with your fingers on the top surface of the lid, you and your recruited opponent will find the little fighters hopping around the ring. The winner is not the first one to either fall over or end up outside the ring. If you are a member of the Society and have any questions, please contact Mark to arrange a help session either via FaceTime or lunch. The washi paper used in this video was produced a long time ago by an inspiring Japanese graphic design group working under the name: Studio Cochae (https://cochae.com). Cinematography, hair and wardrobe by Marita.
