After a week and a half on Ko Lanta and Ko Phi Phi, I’ve finally escaped the tourist trail — and landed somewhere completely random. I had no idea what to expect, but this city (name forgotten, obviously!) has turned out to be packed with surprises: a hostel that doubles as a museum, no other Westerners around, and a cheeky run-in with a group of trainee monks who couldn’t stop giggling at my face. I didn’t plan this. I barely even researched it. But that’s the point — this is proper off-the-beaten-track Thailand.
