The Edge is a survival movie taking place in the merciless and uninhabited remotes of Alaska. Billionaire Charles Morse (Anthony Hopkins) accompanies his very attractive and much younger wife on a photo shoot to a quaint Alaskan lodge. Charles is suspicious that his wife and her photographer Bob Green (Alec Baldwin) are having an affair, although they are both ignorant to such suspicions. The introspective Charles is a very composed and acutely intelligent individual who spends a lot of time in study and thus is regarded as a fact-filled scholar. Bob, on the other hand, is a worldly man, being flashy, flamboyant and consumptuous. The night of the arrival, a grizzly looking, aged and scarred lodge attendant warns the party of dangerous Kodiak bears and instructs them in how to avoid an engagement if they find themselves in the vicinity of one. This raises tension as the attendants become increasingly aware of the many dangers of the uninhabited parts of Alaska. Shortly into their stay, Green insists on taking a small charter plane deeper into the remotes in search for a particular local hermit hopefully to capture his appearance of authenticity on camera. Morse\'s wife insists that Charles attend the, what is supposed to be, a short trip. For reasons I will not announce here, the plane crashes in a lake deep inside the wilderness and far from their planned flight path. Three of the four occupants survive the crash. Morse, Green, and Greens cameraman receive no major injuries while the pilot died on impact. This is where the movie really begins to take shape.
