Malbork Castle is the largest Gothic castle complex in the world, covering an area of approximately 21 hectares, a masterpiece of defensive and residential architecture of the late Middle Ages. In 1997, Malbork Castle was added to the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage List. The boundaries of the 21 ha Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork encompass all the elements necessary to sustain the Outstanding Universal Value of the monumental castle complex, characterised by a tripartite layout comprising the High Castle, the Middle Castle, and the Outer Bailey, each clearly delineated while at the same time integrally interconnected.
