In this video, you will learn about greetings and farewells in the Yoruba culture. Yoruba culture places a lot of importance on respect, and greeting is seen as a key indicator of whether a person is respectful or not. So, knowing how to greet appropriately is important. You are expected to greet at the start of any conversation. Greeting isn’t only to be shared among friends, even strangers greet one another whether it’s on a bus, in the market, at a park, in a restaurant, greetings are exchanged everywhere.
