Sivitar is set at an elevation of 4864 feet above sea level. Sivitar is mainly known for its abundance of orange gardens and tea estates in and around the village. Sivtar Tea Estate was established in the year of 1881 by Shaw Family. Currently fourth generation is managing and owning this Tea Estate. River Mahanadi flows through the village of Sivitar. The village of Sivitar is mainly inhabited by Lepcha tribal people those are mainly into agriculture for their livelihood. Apart from that as Sivitar is a village of tea gardens hence many villagers are also involved into tea plantation works. The tea estate of Sivitar was established in the year 1870 in the southern valley of Kurseong sub division. River Shivakhola also flows nearby Sivitar village and tourists can easily visit this place from Sivitar village. But my recommendation is to visit this place during either Monsoon or Winter. In high summer this place is very hot and humid. On a clear day Sivitar offers clear view of the snow-capped Himalayan ranges along with that Sivitar also offers stunning view of the surrounding mountains and the lush greenery all around. The village of Sivitar is inhabited by numerous birds those are often spotted in every nooks and corner of Sivitar village.
