Sitar : Ustad Rafique Khan Tabla : Sri Satyajith S Talwalkar, Mumbai Sangeet Bharati Utsav 2020 Sangeet Bharati Foundation (R), Mangalore Ustad Rafique Khan Ustad Rafique Khan was born in Dharwad into an illustrious family of accomplished musicians belonging to Dharwad Gharana. His father, late Ustad Abdul Karim Khan, was distinguished sitarist of his time; while his grandfather, the late “Sitar Ratna” Ustad Rahimat Khan was accredited. Ustad Rafique Khan has been conferred with prestigious awards including ‘Surmani’ award. All India Radio has rated him as a top Ranking artiste and has broadcast four of his recitals on their National Programmes. He has served as a member of the Karnataka Sangeet Nritya Academy. He has performed at different concerts all over India and abroad. His performances have been acclaimed at prestigious music concerts. Apart from his solo recitals, he also performs with his twin brother Shafique Khan and the Khan duo has received much praise for their “Jugalbandis. Satyajit S. Talwalkar Shri Satyajit Suresh Talwalkar was born on 4 April 1978 in Pune, Maharashtra. He inherited the art of Tabla-playing from his father Shri Suresh Talwalkar, who initiated him into the art. He also learnt Hindustani music from his mother, Shrimati Padma Talwalkar, an eminent vocalist. Shri Satyajit Talwalkar made a mark as a young talent early in life, performing widely in prestigious festivals organized by various organizations in India and abroad. He has received various prestigious awards including the ITC SRA Yuva Award, Kolkata. He has distinguished himself as a soloist and has also accompanied veterans of Hindustani music such as Amjad Ali Khan, Shahid Parvez, Brij Bhushan Kabra, Rashid Khan, Ulhas Kashalkar and Pandit Jasraj. He has keen interest in fusion, world music and modern jazz. He has many recordings to his credit. Shri Satyajit Talwalkar is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2011 for his notable talent in the field of Hindustani instrumental music.
