The top 10 aviation highlights of January 2021. It begins with an extremly rare Airbus A340-600 of Maleth Aero which visited Liege earlier this year on a cargo charter flight from the United Kingdom. England had to deal with the brexit which caused long queues at the boarders. This A340 visited Liege a few times to carry important cargo from the Europe to the UK. Definitly an unusual sight to see an A340-600 with cargo titles. Probably my highlight this month. I also filmed a few interesting Boeing 747` s including the first B747 from Bermuda. Another fantastic highlight was the snow. Usually we don` t get snow in our area anymore and I was extremly happy to film a few 747` s during snowy winter conditions at Liege in Belgium. The green B747 kicked up some snow during departure and this might have been my favorite motif of january. It` s winter time and obviously crosswinds become an issue during this time. It` s stormy quite often and a few airplanes had to deal with wind speeds up to 40 knots at Düsseldorf. A wind gust caused an Airbus A320 of Eurowings to shake after departure which looked quite dramatic. In aviation, a crosswind landing is a landing maneuver in which a significant component of the prevailing wind is perpendicular to the runway center line. Aircraft in flight are subject to the direction of the winds in which the aircraft is operating. For example, an aircraft in flight that is pointed directly north along its longitudinal axis will, generally, fly in that northerly direction. However, if there is a west wind, the actual track of the aircraft will be slightly to the east of north. If the aircraft were landing north on a north-south runway, it would need to compensate for this easterly drift caused by the west crosswind. Thanks for watching, I am planning to do one of these TOP10 videos once a month to show you the monthly highlights. New videos every tuesday and friday.
