Artist talk with Edmonton based artist Paul van den Bijgaart about his exhibition at the Alberta Craft Discovery Gallery in Edmonton entitled Liquid Landscapes. Within the motion and intensity of the hot glass studio, Edmonton artist Paul van den Bijgaart has created an exhibition of blown glass wall works and objects. Drawing on inspiration from Chinese ink painting, and using experimental techniques, the surfaces of his works are richly sensuous and painterly. Believing that ‘…creativity comes like a wave to be ridden…’ van den Bijgaart expresses his passion for exploration through the captured fluidity of his works in glass, finding inspiration in the forms of nature that dwarf the power of man such as clouds, rivers, waterfalls, and mountain peaks.
