THIS Is How We're Protecting Our Straw Bale Walls Until We Plaster

In today's video, we're showing our process for trying to protect our straw bale walls from the weather for a few months until we're ready to plaster. The idea is to create a barrier with 6 mil plastic sheeting, but to set it away from the bales a bit to hopefully prevent any possible condensation from soaking into the bales. To get this standoff, we used 2x4s ripped in half to wrap the plastic around at the edge of each section to create the space. This also makes a much stronger connection for the plastic, as opposed to attaching it directly to the bucks, where it could likely rip around any fastener and be ripped away from the wood. The wrapping around the 2x4 is much less likely to tear. But, this is really just something we came up with as a potential solution, so… FINGERS CROSSED!
