Jorge "Viki" Gómez is a BMX sporting legend, six time world champion, who happens to live in Luxembourg. He's also won the Euro X-Games twice, and the NORA Cup awards x 3 Red Bull picked up on his potential decades ago, making him a Red Bull BMX Pro Athlete in 2003 - one of the very first BMX riders to gain such a sponsorship. This partnership also helped catapult BMX Flatland into international sporting territory, requiring artistry and deep technique. It also shows the brilliance of Red Bull's inspirational marketing strategy, which doesn't come without pressure on the sponsored athletes (Viki had to remain in the top three globally for all the time he was sponsored.... until now when he's more than proved he can win everything that's worth winning in his domain). Viki was just 7 when he first saw BMX bikes, this 'artform on two wheels'. At the time he had also started martial arts and aged 14 had to decide between the two sports. BMX won out, but he took the martial arts temperament, dedication to form and practice to this, outwardly, very different sport. A couple of decades on, he is still inspiring, innovating and working with his wife, Alexandra Gobran, to bring BMX to a new set of youngsters with the roll-out of lighter bikes to avoid injury too.
