Cuncolim Market, Goan shopping in villages takes place on weekends. Almost a weeks stock is bought by local villagers. #cuncolim #goashopping #goa #southgoa #travelkardotcom #travelkar We go here every week for fresh vegetables. This time with me is my wife Lata, son Harsh and my wife's cousin sister Divya who usually comes on weekends. Everything under 1 roof here at Cuncolim Market 6kms from my village Fatorpa., South Goa. We get all household item like Clothes, small electronics, torches, gardening equipments, bags, dress materials, utensils, flowers, vegetables, dried fish, grooming, items, bakery products, utensils etc. The highlight of this place is the tribal community women come with fruits and vegetables you will not find anywhere in shops including large roots of plants, vegetables, kokam and produce which only grow in the forests. The Cuncolim market is open all week but the maximum vendors and buyers come on Sundays. Especially wholesale fruit sellers and clothes shops. How are the prices? Rather slightly higher than Mumbai or Pune or even Margao (have to spend ₹40 extra to and fro to the old market by bus). Drop the misconception of Goan villages are cheap to live in. Rather the everyday household items are more expensive since there is no Dmart to give a discount or a deal. How do villagers then survive on low income? Literary limit their lifestyle cutting down on food and other discretionary expenses like we don't think twice before ordering ₹1000 food on Zomato. The only savings they have is cheap or no house rent and property tax 8s very low. Why then do affluent people live in Goan villages?, ancestral large place, It gives them leverage to boss around and be close to relatives or have a business closeby. With start of festival season after 15 August even home decoration items will be available in the market. Like door hangings, hand made dolls, wooden toys and wooden fruits (similar to the ones in Sawantwadi, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra) which are part of the Goan tradition to display in the aras during Ganeshotsav celebration where fresh fruits cannot last in the hot humid weather. The best place to be here is during October-January when there are Temple Zatra and Church Fest at different villages in entire Goa every weekend. ==========*==========*==========*==========*==========* About Me : Hi, I am Dharmanath Fatarpekar an IT fellow spending entire day sitting in front of a screen. I live at Nanded City, Pune and yearly visit my ancestral village Fatorpa in South Goa with my family. These videos were recorded in Apr-May 2022 for about 20 days as a snap shot. My village is changing rapidly and entire South Goa is turning in a concrete jungle so its now to preserve it for my next generation. We have a house built by my father in 2000 facing enormous challenges, so after he passed away I took the privilege to maintain it sitting 460kms away which has been another challenge. I travel to Goa once every year or occasionally 2-3 times for work or get house cleaning, civil work, electrical work, plumbing work, utility bills and taxes paid. Almost all the time of vacation is spent in the work sparing 2-3 days when my family gets seriously upset. But I love doing it so no complaints. These videos are not the usual travel videos but visual documentation of the house, the village and its lovely people. ==========*==========*==========*==========*==========* Please subscribe to the channel and be a part of our family.
